Appview Technologies was founded in 2018 by a group of highly experienced professionals from IIT Delhi and Stanford University with support from Glance Optical Australia and a team of top ophthalmologists and optometry Professors. The technology was in development for three years prior to that with support from University of Melbourne.
The technology took years of hard work and iterations to reach accuracy and subsequent FDA and TGA clearance. It was highlighted as the newest and most innovative research in the annual meeting of the Association for Research into Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), USA in 2016.
Glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, AMD and neural related eye conditions are dangerous and often have no symptoms initially. MRF Visual Fields Application technology accurately assesses changes and issues in the full visual field due to these conditions at a fraction of a cost than the expensive visual field machine. The technology can not only be used for monitoring visual field of existing patients but also pre-emptively detect and thereby help prevent vision loss due to these conditions in healthy individuals.
Our vision is to bring this technology to the vast masses and patients worldwide who often remain un-diagnosed or are difficult to be managed due to lack of resources and availability of equipment.
MRF device can be used after some training of the patient by a clinical assistant in situations where it is difficult for patients to access the standard test equipment:
- in a doctor’s waiting room prior to an appointment,
- By optometrists as part of regular eye check ups
- in rural and remote areas,
- by a patient’s bedside, and
- in self-monitoring by patients in the comfort of their own home
